My heart is stony and my flesh weak. Lord, I will not leave this "quiet" place until you bless me. I want my heart subdued. Bed rest still looms {and is getting old}, hormones rage; tears flow, I can't find a quiet place; all I hear is, "Mommmmy, Mommmmy, I need you!" {How wonderful to be needed by my precious munchkin but I need you right now, Lord.} I can't do this day without you. I can't do any day without you. Subdue me, Lord, subdue me!
"Change my heart, oh God,
Make it ever true.
Change my heart, oh God
May I be like you.
You are the potter
I am the clay.
Mold me and make me
This is what I pray.
Change my heart, oh God,
Make it ever true.
Change my heart, oh God
May I be like you."
Yes, Lord, change my heart. This is my prayer today!

Staying "in tune"
I love hymns. The melodic tunes can stay in my mind all day. And although I love music, and fresh notes on a page, it's the words that penetrate deep into my heart, lingering in my memory, often for days. Sometimes at just the precise moment I hear the words. Like today. A small reminder that God is not finished with me yet, still shaping me into His beautiful daughter.
Teach me Father what to say; Teach me Father what to pray;
Teach me all along the way, how to be like Jesus.
Teach me how we may be one, Like the Father and the Son;
And when all is overcome, I will be like Jesus.
I would be like Jesus, I would be like Jesus!
Help me Lord, to daily grow, more and more like Jesus!
Teach me Father what to say; Teach me Father what to pray;
Teach me all along the way, how to be like Jesus.
Teach me how we may be one, Like the Father and the Son;
And when all is overcome, I will be like Jesus.
I would be like Jesus, I would be like Jesus!
Help me Lord, to daily grow, more and more like Jesus!

Bed Rest
The resting time came; not that I planned on it. It came unannounced, determining to provide more than my narrow-mindedness could picture. I, on the other hand, announced boredom, impatience, and stir-crazy days. Anything but the calm, restful days I secretly envisioned or hoped for.
"And my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places." Isaiah 32:18
Another plan unfolds; a better one. Plans to rejuvenate, some soul-searching time, spirit-fed quiet. That is what He had in mind. How did this quiet cascade down? Was I just fortunate? The thought of another new babe, more sleepless nights, and two little ones clinging, left me wondering how we could cope. I cry out that I'm scared, incapable. I can't do this alone. I need your quiet. And slowly it comes, but not in the expected. Lord, help me rest in You, the true quiet resting place.

What was your latest sermon?
He doesn't preach or sermonize, or even try to be noticed. He simply gives out of the abundance of his heart. It's who he is, naturally; doing one good deed here and another there. My vantage for these sermons is my kitchen window. They are are some of the most powerful sermons I've seen in a long time and the message is seeping it's way into other hearts, as well. Perhaps, an eternal seeping. Praise Jesus!
My dear children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.
1 John 3:18

I would be like Jesus
The chorus to this hymn is my prayer for you and me today.
Be like Jesus, this my song,
in the home and in the throng
(or could I say in the heart and in the home);
Be like Jesus all day long!
I would be like Jesus.
Some days don't feel like Jesus is in my heart or home but some feelings can be elusive, so I cling and trust knowing that somehow he is working in and through me. When I lay aside self and cling, real peace follows. Then I know He is helping me be the mother and wife He wants me to be.
I want to be more like Him. Don't you?

A step toward simplicity
Birds sing sweetly, grass continues to green...and grow. Fruit trees await planting while others wait for long drinks to show off their beauty blooms. Strawberries, blueberries and grapes start their journeys toward harvest. And the garden, well, it anticipates slightly warmer nights so goodies can be planted.
From this vantage, busy boy, is "fixing" the lawn mower with just the right tools. Daddy is in the shop keeping an alert eye for missing tools while HE tackles the mower. Mommy relaxes, breathing in the fresh evening air taking this all in.
A step toward simplicity in life. This is good, very good!

I wish....
I wish I could be at the grocery store in 2 minutes but still live in the country
I wish the sun would shine everyday like it did today
I wish for more peace on earth among men; more kindness and love
I wish for more simplicity; for things most important, like family
I wish for garden days everyday; rich dirt between fingers
I wish to live life full and rich; drinking in the goodness it spills into the soul
I wish to be a better person; to know God more; for Him to come soon, very soon
What do you wish?

Lord, take my heart...
This is from a beautiful book, Christ's Object Lessons and has been the theme of my heart cry the past couple of weeks.
No outward observances can take the place of simple faith and entire renunciation of self. But no man can empty himself of self. We can only consent for Christ to accomplish the work. Then the language of the soul will be, Lord, take my heart; for I cannot give it. It is Thy property. Keep it pure, for I cannot keep it for Thee. Save me in spite of myself, my weak, unchristlike self. Mold me, fashion me, raise me into a pure and holy atmosphere, where the rich current of Thy love can flow through my soul. COL p.159
And here it is in a blong. Oh, you haven't heard of a blong? Well, I hadn't either until recently. A blong is simply a song on a blog. Putting God's messages to music is a great way to carry good thoughts in your mind throughout the day. Here is the song, minus the tune.
"Take my heart, for I'm to weak to give it to you. Keep it pure, for I can't keep it pure for you. Save me Lord, inspite of my weak, unchristlike self. Take my heart, keep it pure, make me yours today. Mold me, fashion me, like clay in your hands. Shape me, change me, so rich currents of your love, can flow through my soul. Take my heart for I'm to weak to give it to you. Keep it pure, for I can't keep it pure for you. Save me Lord inspite of my weak, unchristlike self. Take my heart, keep it pure, make me yours today." song written by my friend at A Wildflower Morning based on the words from Christ's Object Lessons.
